Whitby, Ontario - With a renewed sense of urgency surrounding the environmental agenda, one responsible business is not only adopting green policies and practices, but encouraging their patrons to do the same.

The Royal Ashburn Golf Club of Whitby is showing exemplary leadership in the area of environmental preservation and conservation. From course maintenance to clubhouse management, The Royal Ashburn has incorporated an aggressive set of practices to reduce and offset its own environmental footprint.

Now, it's encouraging golfers to share in this important cause with Greens for Green. From May 25 to May 31st, The Royal Ashburn is giving every golfer a locally grown Colorado Blue Spruce tree. The golf course hopes that every tree will be planted so as to offset harmful carbons and create ideal nesting habitats for wildlife.

Greens for Green joins The Royal Ashburn's other environmental achievements such as the Wetlands Conservation Project completed in the spring of 2009 in cooperation with Ducks Unlimited, Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.

"As a golf course, environmental degradation has a significant impact on our business", comments Scott Paterson, General Manager, of Royal Ashburn Golf Club. "So we have a special responsibility to preserve and protect what we have while promoting awareness amongst others."

Greens for Green will run from Monday, May 25th to Sunday, May 31st.
