Club Information
The Royal Ashburn Golf Club is a well established, high end, first class golf course. Wilson Paterson purchased the property in 1959 and opened the doors in 1962. We are an 18 Hole Championship facility that has been host to numerous professional events; The Canadian Tour Qualifying School, The Canadian Open Qualifier, The Great Lakes Tour Events, and in 2011 we hosted the University National Championships and The College National Championships. Our Food & Beverage is well regarded by our guests and is of excellent quality with most items prepared in house.
Job Responsibilities
• Reports to Superintendent and Management
• Assist the superintendent with managing all aspects of the Golf Course property, which includes the golf course and surrounding areas, ie. parking lot, entrance roads, naturalized areas, adjoining properties, etc.
• Assist the Superintendent with the upkeep of the turf maintenance building(s), outdoor washrooms, bridges, adjoining properties, and clubhouse.
• Make recommendations to the superintendent on the daily conditions of the golf course, or areas where you feel there is a problem.
• Maintain buildings, equipment and property in a professional manner.
• Keeping the golf course pristine at all times (picking up litter, tree debris etc. anytime you see something out of place fix it.)
• Maintain a friendly and courteous attitude with the guests of Royal Ashburn (ie. turning of equipment when golfers are playing, do not cut in front of golfers with machinery, golfers have the right of way etc.)
• Must be willing and capable of working overtime, weekends, or long hours when required, or at the superintendent’s request due to the nature of the business.
Qualifications
• Physically capable to perform hand watering, fertilization and construction requirements in an efficient manner.
• Must have transportation to and from work and be able to start early in the morning.
• Must be willing and able to work independently and with others and respect the decisions of the superintendent and management
• Must be willing to learn and respect how a golf course is maintained and be willing to be trained on all machinery.
Preference will be given to those with:
• Completion or enrolment of an educational program with an emphasis on turf management, or professional golf course management.
• Experience in the golf industry, or those with experience operating machinery.
• Physical ability to carry out all assigned tasks.
Compensation
Starts at minimum wage and increases based on experience.
